Hello! I’m Brenna Smith, and I’m glad you’re visiting SheNOW!

When I’m not working with my SheNOW team, or interviewing amazing women for the website, I am out speaking for corporations, colleges/universities, women’s organizations and women’s conferences. Not only am I the Board President for SheNOW Women’s Charity, but I also work with the Board of Texas A&M’s Womens Former Students’ Network as the Vice Chair of the Communications Committee, I am on the Young Professionals Board with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to develop their Dallas Speakers Bureau, I’ve been a guest host on several radio shows, a guest blogger on a variety of women focused websites, a consultant for start up companies in differing fields, and I am the author of a forthcoming book.

In my free time, I am an avid philanthropist, spending much of my energy on Habitat for Humanity and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I also enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, girl’s trips, martini nights, playing in the mud and rain, adventures and spontaneity. My boyfriend and I are even trying our hand at urban chicken farming this year, despite our recent 5:00 AM discovery that one of our hens…well, she…is a he. Cock-a-doodle Doo!

Be the change you wish to see in the world. ~ Gandhi

  1. As a young, single, woman business owner I am so encouraged to see a place I can go for tips, words of advice and some bright ideas from fellow women not afraid to live their own life, and create something wonderful for themselves prior to “settling down.” Brenna, thank you for being an inspiration, and thank you for creating such an invaluable asset to the online young, professional, women’s community!!!

    • Lauren,

Thank you for your kind words, and I’m glad you believe in this message just as much as we do!! It is sooo very important, and I believe we CAN make a difference. Please stay involved in our community as I feel you have some great advice to share with other women. I have some fabulous things planned for this website; join SheNOW to be part of them! Also, if you aren’t following us on Twitter yet, please do! @SheNOW_Org
All the best to you and yours,
      Brenna – CEO & Founder

I enjoyed your radio interview with Helen Woo. A strong voice delivering a message that I hope many of our youth (both male and female) will consider before they rush into marriage and obligations to family and others. They need to take the time before they make a lifetime commitment, to have a chance to live for themselves, to become a “more successful you.” This personal development and the freedom to make decisions and choices for themselves will shape a stronger person who can make informed mature evaluations that can touch countless lives and influence others to follow in their footsteps. Each individual, provided the time to develop this sronger foundation, will only strengthen and contribute further to our society as a whole.

    • Awwwww! You are so sweet! And, we love having you at our events, and it has been great getting to know you!! I can’t wait to hear all about your awards ceremony….we are so proud of you!!!

  6. Maybe this isn’t the place for a divorced male to offer a comment but here it is anyhow. (Brenna can delete it if she wants.) For anyone interested, I know Brenna and applaud what she is doing. Here it is: I married tooooo young to a woman even younger. Neither of us remarried after the divorce. The first and only time ust have cured us. Other than the children we had, it was a mistake. We lacked the maturity to know ourselves, let alone the consequences of allowing our hormones to govern our feelings. Add to that, I had no career plans nor did my bride. We were both raised in a culture that said get married, have children, life would take care of itself. Not so. Have a plan and work it is a better mantra. Sounds simple but for young people not so much. What most, certainly me, lacked was somewhere to get the wherewithal to even begin to ask the right questions. And knowing which answers to follow, even harder. At least for you women, Brenna is providing a place to help. Yeah, Brenna, your friend.

  7. I have to say when I first came to your website I was amazed and fell in love with it. I thought I was the only young woman with this mindset. All my friends and everyone I went to school with has one or two kids already and now most are single moms. I thought I was the only one who wanted to live a little first but I’m tied down with mommy and wife obligations. It’s nice being able to meet some other young ladies who share the same idea.

    • Samantha, thank you for such kind words, and I wish I could just reach out and hug you! It’s hard when we feel like we’re breaking the stereotypical path followed by society, but, I promise, you’re doing it right! Don’t be discouraged, be proud that you are strong enough to lead the life YOU want to lead first. You are wise beyond your years my dear, and I can’t wait to see and hear about all of the fantastic things you do. Please keep in touch with us on this site, and keep up the #GirlPower! *Virtual High-Five* Yeah!
